Call for Abstracts and Key Dates

The International Association for Time Use Research (IATUR) is pleased to announce the 48th IATUR conference at the ISEG Lisbon School of Economics and Management [Instituto Superior de Economia e Gestao] of the Universidade de Lisboa in Lisbon, Portugal, September 16-18, 2026.

CALL for ABSTRACTS

The International Association for Time Use Research (IATUR) invites researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and PhD students to submit abstracts for the 48th International  Association for Time Use Research Conference, September 16-18 Lisbon (ISEG) Suggested abstract lenght: 250-500 words. We welcome empirical studies, theoretical contributions, methodological innovations, and policy-oriented research.

The 48th International Association for Time Use Research will bring together scholars from diverse disciplines—including sociology, economics, public health, geography, psychology, and policy studies— to advance knowledge of how individuals and societies allocate, experience, and value time.

To ensure your paper is placed in the most relevant session, please indicate your primary topic area during the submission process. The primary topics are:

  • Technology, Digitization, and Wellbeing
  • Inequalities, Demographics, Society and Family 
  • Environment, Energy, Geography and Transports
  • Public Policy, Services, and Global Goals
  • Centrality of Time in Data Collection and Data Enrichment
  • Work, Labor, Economy, and Valuation
  • Health, Wellbeing, Lifestyle, and Daily Rhythms
  • Time Use: Research Methodology, Innovations, and Data Analysis
  • Time Use in University and Gender 
  • Special Sessions: A select number of papers will be chosen for Special Sessions sponsored by Gender Equality Plans for INclusivity: engines of Change (GEPINC, a Horizon Europe Project Jan2025-Dec2027). The selection will be based on their convergence with the core goals of the project specifically, the scientific committee will look for transdisciplinary research—spanning gender economics, psychology, sociology, anthropology, and innovation research—that aims to provide an effective framework to durably foster gender equality for intersecting gender groups in European Research and Innovation Organisations.

Key Dates

The extended deadline for submitting abstracts for  oral and poster presentations is June 16, 2026. Submitters who meet this extended deadline will receive a notification of acceptance July 1, 2026.

All abstracts will undergo a formal peer-review evaluation by the local scientific committee.

Registration deadline for authors (to be included in the programme) is Friday July 31 2026.

 Cancellation policy

  • Cancellation requests received by 24 July 2026 will be refunded in full.
  • Cancellation requests received between 25 July 2026 and 8 August 2026 will be refunded after deduction of a 50 Euro administration fee.
  • 50% of registration costs will be refunded if cancellation requests are received between 9 August 2026 and 1 September 2026. Requests for refund will be denied starting 2 September. Any administrative costs related to refunds will be passed on to the registered. To convert the fee, please contact the organizers.
